||To assist Railway Children in conducting need assessment, IMPACT conducted a research study in West Bengal covering locations—Asansol, Bardhman, Birbhum, Darjeeling, Malda, Murshidabad, Kharagpur, South 24 Parganas, PaschimiMidnapur, Uttar Dinajpur, DakshinDinajpur. The research study identified the most viable trades and businesses realistic for sustainable livelihoods for families and youth in all the covered locations (source areas as well as railway stations). The study also focused on identifying the employment opportunities available for the vulnerable families and youth and the skills that they need to sustainably access the same. Also, mapping of all the government welfare and livelihood schemes that are available in all the source areas, which the families and youth can benefit from, was undertaken. The findings were used for the development of grant proposal by Railway Children.
